Walker Paths

Polylast Systems’ walker path kit allows extended, virtually unrestricted use of any horse exerciser – walker regardless of weather conditions.

Polylast’s patented process produces a product which serves as a cushioning surface that is good for horses, prohibits “tracking” and requires no rebuilding.  Traction may be varied by adding sand or shavings onto the surface. The surface is waterproof so that moisture is directed out of the walker and the exerciser can be used no matter what the weather conditions.  No dust suppression is necessary and your horses and tack stay cleaner.

As people familiar with the financial benefits know, walkers can return the purchase price invested in a matter of months.  For example, using a six horse walker, six hours a day can practically eliminate 36 man hours of labor a day!  At the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, that’s more than $260 per day or $1,500 per week in savings!  Installing a Polylast Walker Path can get you even more use and value from your walker because you can use it no matter what the weather is.

Brad Barkemeyer, Professional Horse Trainer in Scottsdale, AZ, explains the benefits of using Polylast C&S Flooring on your Walker Paths.

What is a Polylast Walker Path?

The Polylast Walker Path is unique combination of recycled rubber, combined with a variety of chemicals in a patented process that allows a cushioned, waterproof, long lasting, low maintenance surface to be applied, in place, over a concrete subsurface.  The result is a waterproof, dust free track that can be used regardless of weather conditions.  Your horses breathe cleaner air (even if your walker is under cover or indoors) and your horses and tack stay cleaner, requiring less maintenance.  Also, no wear track will develop in the middle of your walker, meaning that your horses are more likely to use the entire area and move more freely and naturally.  The need for replacing or even leveling displaced material is eliminated as is the need for dust prevention.

What’s is a Polylast “Walker Path Kit” and how is it installed?

Polylast Walker Paths are to be installed by Polylast Certified Installers.  Polylast walker path kits are delivered to the installation site containing all of the ingredients necessary to do a complete installation.  Kit size and price vary depending on the size of the walker.

Polylast Walker Paths consist of multiple layers of specifically designed and selected materials that create a long lasting surface with the desired attributes of strength, durability and cushioning.  The path must be installed on a hard or compacted surface of  slurry or concrete.  The base layer of the path is made up of Polylast pretreated rubber that is mixed, on site, with the Polylast binder and then troweled onto the prepared pathway.  Next, this base is coated with a mixture of chemicals and powder that permanently waterproof the pathway and provides the ultimate strength and durability.

Installation of the Polylast Walker Pathway varies slightly depending on the size of the walker and on weather conditions.  The installation requires that the path base is adequately prepared.  The first layer is a troweled on application of the pretreated rubber mixed with the binder.  This base layer is then coated with the super strong top coat and let to dry.  Typically, the complete application process takes approximately two days and the walker may be used after 24 hours from the time the installation is complete.
